Dog Orthopedics

Orthopedics refers to surgery related to the bones or musculoskeletal system of the dog. It may involve repair of a fracture ( broken bone), correction of a congenital or birth defect (such as luxating patellas) or repair of the structures associated with the skeleton ( such as ligament repairs in the knee- cruciate surgery). It often involves extended and specialized surgical procedures requiring extra surgeons, pain control and post operative management.

What are some orthopedics related diseases?

Some orthopedic related diseases include arthritis, as well as lyme disease. Other problems include cruciate tears, luxating patellas and even bone breaks and fracture repairs.

What type of orthopedic services do you offer?

The orthopedic services we provide include pinning of broken bones and splinting, FHO’s (femoral head osteotomy), cruciate repairs, luxating patellas. We also have digital x-ray to help us diagnose these orthopedic issues.

Imagine this: Fido lying back in a dental exam chair, mouth willingly open wide, protective glasses on and allowing someone to clean and polish each tooth, sometimes poking his gums when scraping the plaque and tartar from his teeth.
